July 2006
July 18th was a get-started-early-and-fast day as the Killians and
Vigueries boarded their contracted fishing boat and headed out for
a day of adventure. The ride to the jettys was dotted with comments
about the great number of pelicans around Shem Creek and the harbor.
Dan could be heard reminiscing about his youth spent on the beaches
of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. Before long, the anchor was thrown
and Fifi’s line was being tugged on by a blackfish. She reeled
in her catch; this Louisiana girl had caught her first fish not on
the bayou but in the water off the Carolina coast. Dan was the next
one to reel quickly as a lady fish on his line danced around. Two
sharks livened the lines of Felice and Hume – a great start
for Hume’s annual birthday fishing trip. He was determined that
Fifi catch a fish on this day and that everyone enjoy the peace and
beauty of the waters around the islands of Sullivans, Morris, and
James.
