May 2005
Due to the upcoming nuptials of Danielle and Chris, our Charleston friends found it fitting to throw a party for the lovebirds. It wasn't just any cocktail party, but a disco-theme Stock-the-Bar shower. The invitations were a perfect introduction for what lay ahead for the night of April 23rd. 8-track tapes were hand-delivered to the doorsteps of the lucky invitees. Labeled on the tapes were instructions to "shake your groove thing" and "foxy 70's attire required."The majority of the guests followed these rules. The display of afros, go-go boots, long-blond wigs, platform shoes with dice swimming in the heels, one sexy silver lame pants outfit, and one very interesting white vinyl jumpsuit will not be forgotten. The bride and groom seemed to be dressed appropriately as if they may have been married in the 70's. Danielle chose a lovely white lace ensemble set off by a butterfly tiara, while Chris was very svelte in his orange tuxedo complete with silver platform shoes. The disco ball twinkled in the living room while tunes such as "Rock the Boat" and "Burn Baby Burn" spun on the stereo. Everyone performed their best John Travolta and some were treated to Hume's rendition of the "The Hustle!" Needless to say, we were a tired bunch on Sunday, but laughed at the delightful outfits and dancing moves from the night before. Carmen, James, Emily, Andrew and Dave hosted a truly jivin' party to kick off the wedding festivities. Until next month, keep those tunes spinning and those feet dancing. Felice |
